About Caret and Compass

I’m Jasmin—born and bred in beautiful Somerset, now residing in East Sussex with my partner and young son.

But let’s get to the part you’re here for. With over a decade of in-house experience now under my belt, I’m pleased to have launched Caret and Compass, my freelance editorial business, in 2026. (Its name combines the V-shaped proofreading mark that indicates a new insertion in a text and my ability to bring clarity and direction to any writing project.)

With Caret and Compass, I’m dedicated to providing premium editorial support to businesses, authors, and other creators. In my 10+ years in the profession, I’ve worked with B2B and B2C clients across the pharmaceutical, medical, and consumer healthcare information landscape, and I’ve also dabbled in content pertaining to the UK travel industry. I’m proficient across a range of content formats, too, including print magazines, online articles, videos, podcasts, infographics, social media, and many more.

While editing and proofreading do make up the bulk of my freelance work, I’ve got a soft spot for brand voice strategy and style guide creation. During my time with a globally recognised health information website, I created and managed style, language, and sourcing guides across multiple brands. It was a fundamental piece of brand strategy work that culminated in the upkeep of distinct and memorable voices across a suite of websites owned by the same parent company. The result? SERP domination.
